How To Generate RealTheory API Keys

Access keys authenticate requests from your application with your RealTheory account.

Background

RealTheory API keys allow developers to seamlessly integrate their application(s) with the RealTheory platform's functionality. API keys serve as unique identifiers and authentication tokens, granting authorized access to our APIs and enabling developers to leverage RealTheory services programmatically. By generating API keys, developers can securely authenticate their applications, ensuring that only authorized parties can access the resources and functionalities exposed through RealTheory APIs. This not only facilitates smooth integration between RealTheory and external applications but also allows developers to extend the capabilities of the RealTheory platform, and to create value-added services specific to their users.

Solution

1. As a user with one of the following roles, navigate to Settings > API > Access Keys:

• • sys_admin
  • api_key_admin

2. Click Enable API key management. RealTheory will generate two API keys - Key 1 and Key 2.
3. Click
   
   (Show/hide this key) to view each key.
4. Copy the API keys to your clipboard or securely record them.
5. Securely record the API keys in a key vault or a designated secrets management service. You can now use the API keys when making requests to the RealTheory APIs at the API endpoint.
   Note: You should periodically replace the keys with new keys. Click
   
   (Rotate this key) to rotate a key.
